Meditating Munchkins™ Program Overview

Meditating Munchkins™ introduces children ages 1.5 – 8 years to the worlds of Mindfulness and Meditation in a gentle, loving and welcoming environment.

Meditating Munchkins™ core values are:

  • Supporting the whole child – mind, body and spirit

  • Building friendships

  • Encouraging communication skills

  • Mental health promotion

  • Self-expression of the individual child

  • Resiliency

  • Empathy and love for self, others and planet

  • Fun through imaginative play

Program Format

​

Squirmy-Wormy Time – Get the Wiggles Out 

Children are encouraged to wiggle, squirm, dance, and move to get all their “wigglies” out prior to and during the Meditation process. 

​

Tummy Time – Baby Belly Breathing 

Breathing is crucial to a successful Meditative process. Tummy Time teaches Children how Babies breathe - tummy breathing. This type of deep breathing is a phenomenal way to get Children focused on their breath to promote a state of relaxation. 

​

Present Time – The Beginning Steps To Mindfulness, Slowing Down, Paying Attention 

Being present (not focused on past or future) is the next step in the Meditative process. Children will begin Present Time with eyes open allowing them to experience their environment through the senses (sight, sound, smell, taste) followed by the same process of eyes closed. 

​

Magic Time – Using the Imagination to Visualize 

Finding a Magical place where Children can go is the BEST part of the Meditative Process. Magic Time will transport the Children to that special place (that makes them feel calm and peaceful) where Imagination meets Meditation. 

​

Talking Time – Encouraging Children to express feelings 

The Children each get to share their Meditation experiences, ask questions or share things that are important to them!

LMAO - Laughing My Anxiety Off!™ encourages laughter and joy (in spite of everyday worries) for youth in grades 4 - 8 in a respectful and welcoming environment.

LMAO's core values are:

  • Fostering conversation and connection amongst students

  • Mental health promotion

  • Positive Self-expression 

  • Resiliency

  • Empathy for the world around them

  • Laughter through story telling

Program Format

Well Hello There - Ice breaker Activity

Children are encouraged to introduce themselves in a way that is not typical of who people think they are

​

Let's Let Go - Letting go of thoughts that produce worry

Children will identify that which is currently "bugging" them in a visualization process to get a feel for what life would be like if they no longer worried

​

Fuel the Fun – Using play to release the worry

Children will participate in various activities (set up by our team) to encourage dialogue and discussion on what best serves them to lessen worries

​

Mmmm Meditation

Children will be taken through a guided meditation to relax after activity segment

​

Diving into Dialogue – Encouraging Children to express feelings 

The Children will share their LMAO experience, ask questions or share their strategies for keeping worries at bay
